First identify the RXM by model number—not color, barrel length, or the word RXM alone. Ruger's standard RXM models use a configurable direct-mount cut for RMR, DPP, and RMSc patterns: RMR uses two supplied dowel pins and 6-32 screws, while DPP and RMSc use four pins and M4-0.7 screws. RXM models 19461 through 19466 instead have Aimpoint's A-CUT and are documented for the Aimpoint COA. The two RXM cuts are different. The Ruger RXM name now covers two different optic interfaces. That is the first buying decision—not which red dot has the most reviews.

Ruger’s current RXM model page shows the interface on each model. Color and magazine capacity are not reliable shortcuts because both RXM systems appear in multiple configurations.
Standard RXM: Three Direct-Mount Patterns
The April 2026 revision of Ruger’s RXM instruction manual documents three suitable patterns and two physical setups:

The pins are part of the mounting system, not optional packing material. Ruger warns that mounting without the supplied pins in the illustrated layout may damage the firearm or optic and may cause injury.
A-CUT RXM: A Different Slide, Not a Fourth Pin Layout
Ruger’s six currently listed A-CUT model numbers are 19461–19466. The model page labels each “Optic Pattern: Aimpoint A-CUT.” Aimpoint describes A-CUT as a direct, plate-free interface for the Aimpoint COA.
Do not order an RMR, DPP, or RMSc sight for one of those model numbers on the assumption that every RXM shares the standard pin cut. Likewise, the Aimpoint COA is not a standard-cut RXM recommendation.
The Holosun 407K / 507K / EPS Caveat
Ruger’s manual says RMSc, not Holosun K. Those names are often blended together in retailer filters, but the Holosun K pattern changes locating features from a full RMSc layout.
Optics Intel therefore leaves 407K, 507K, EPS, and EPS Carry fit unresolved on the standard RXM until Ruger or the optic manufacturer documents the exact RXM route. Similar dimensions are not enough for a purchasing recommendation.
Installation Boundary
For the standard cut, Ruger instructs the owner to:
- install the supplied dowel pins in the layout for the optic pattern;
- confirm the optic rests flat in the milled area;
- use screws supplied by the optic manufacturer;
- use 6-32 UNC for RMR or M4-0.7 for DPP/RMSc;
- follow the optic maker’s torque specification; and
- verify the screws do not bottom out before the optic is tight.
Ruger’s 15 in-lb figure in this section is for reinstalling the optic cover, not a universal red-dot torque. The manual also calls for a function check after installing or removing an optic and regular screw-tightness inspection.

Interface documentation proves a mounting route. It does not prove which optic has the clearest glass, the best controls, or the longest service life.
