Optic Passport · Configuration record

Leica PRS

This record answers a narrow question: which optic configuration does the indexed evidence describe? Exact retail-SKU identity remains open until primary-source documentation closes it.

These values identify the configuration named in the public evaluation. Enriched claims below retain their own evidence scope so a family manual is never presented as proof of the tested unit's exact UPC or revision.

Evidence review flags

The evaluation introduction says “3-30x56,” while its title, indexed configuration, and manufacturer documentation say 5-30x56. The passport preserves the documented 5-30x56 configuration and flags the source typo.

Leica currently offers L-4a, Ballistic, and PRB variants under different material numbers. The evaluation's reticle description is not enough to promote one of those retail variants to the tested-unit identity.

Scope labels matter: tested unit describes the evaluated optic, exact SKU maps a manufacturer product code, and configuration family applies to the documented model family without proving serial-level identity. A scope match can still remain an evidence lead when its authority or identity chain is incomplete.

An evaluation documents the tested sample and protocol. It is not automatically a population-level reliability claim.

A clear model-label photo, packaging label, dated manual, or manufacturer response can close an identity field. Personal reports are useful leads, but they remain separate from verified identity facts.
